Young F.A. Hayek, although he had been in Mises's class on the university first bought to know him as Mises's subordinate within the debt office.

The University of Vienna professoriate, earlier than the conflict the envy of Europe, started to take on the dimensions of a zoo, as Spann and Mayer intrigued towards one another, and towards Mises, who as a privatdozent, was low man on the educational totem pole.
