Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has opened up about the challenges he faced during his first season with AC Milan under former coach Stefano Pioli, who was dismissed in May 2024. Chukwueze, who joined the Italian club from Villarreal for a fee that could rise to 28 million euros, struggled to replicate the form that saw him directly involved in 24 goals in his final season in Spain. Instead, he managed only six goal involvements in 33 appearances for Milan.

One of the main reasons for his difficulties was missing a significant part of the pre-season preparations, which impacted his integration into the team. Additionally, an injury further slowed his progress, and he found himself behind Christian Pulisic in the pecking order for the right-wing position.
